THE FUTURE; NOT WHAT YOU EXPECTED

Set in southern Africa – mostly in time to come – Rhiannon is about the next, much worse, pandemic. Who will live? How do they behave? Will we exist in something reminiscent of the worst sci. fi. movies, or can civilisation compete?

Angus spins a fast-paced tale of two families who decide to save themselves through true isolation – no electricity, treated water, fuel, food deliveries or even medical help – in Zimbabwe's untamed Umfurudzi bush. Tensions mount. Bad things happen. Goddess of Cymru, oh where are you in our hour of need?

Intermittent broadcasts on an elderly car radio tell that life in some recognisable form still exists in Cape Town. The survivors decide to move, return to what they know, and enter a world where only the landmarks are familiar.

A hide-and-seek chase to Namibia sees them holed up in a sand-swamped diamond mine not far from the desert town of Luderitz. There they meet an elderly German couple, who still mentally fighting their Kaiser's 1914 war against the English, help the desperate little band to leave for their final destination.

The last leg of the journey, apparently sailing along the well-named Skeleton Coast, continues to build the tension and delivers unexpected twists and turns.

In this, Alex Morris Eyton's third publication, the author's well-developed ear for dialogue drives the action along at lightning speed. We are caught up in the inevitable drama that grows under stress — careering across some of the world's most beautiful and remote domains — finally rediscovering essential values and a future very different to the past.

A rollicking page-turner of a book that you won't put down once you start reading.

A NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER

Angus Fraser's brilliant novel titled Rhiannon, published by Alex Morris-Eyton on his behalf, takes an extraordinary peek into our uncertain future.

Are we facing man's long-feared Armageddon?

During the Cold War Neville Shute, an Australian author, wrote a best-selling book titled "On the Beach". His astonishing prediction, written as a novel, covering the pending worldwide nuclear catastrophe, nearly proved correct.

Today, we face Global Warming, terrible pollution, unsustainable population growth and overtaxed natural resources, an equally frightening situation. Why not read Angus's prognostic story, where good triumphs over evil and the young can start again?

Heavenly Soul of Cymru, to whom we Celts do pray: Oh Goddess, save the little children in thine own mysterious way.

‘Isolation is our only hope,’ elderly Angus Fraser insists, ‘but not as we did for Covid. To escape Ebola, we quarantine correctly.’ Gael starts to hum. Monica, George and Little Kate join their stricken mother. Singing in perfect harmony, they entreat Rhiannon’s help. Fifteen-year-old Daniel assumes the leaders’ role, brave, inventive, and helped by his younger sister Nicola he finds the way. ‘Daniel,’ Ivan yells, ‘several youngsters are standing beside a minibus on the Bindura road!’

The survivors, short of food, leave Zimbabwe and head for Namibia’s Walvis Bay. ‘From the West African port,’ Lindsay reasons, ‘we can board a ship for Cape Town.’ On arrival in a far-off land, paedophiles plan to abduct the orphan girls for nefarious purposes. Aghast, fiery Daniel and furious Patrick attempt …
