MAN OF BEES
Published by Alex Morris Eyton
A fast-paced novel covering the lead-up to independent Zimbabwe, giving both sides of the story. It is about the different cultures and oeuvre of Europeans, Zimbabweans and freedom fighters in the country post-Independence, and it centres on a young girl who finds a place in the hearts of men belonging to all three groups. The story unfolds in four African countries and on three continents.

I thought it was an excellent read. Loved the history from back then and the modern-day account. It was also interesting to see the war from the other side's point of view.

ATHENA'S VENGEANCE
What happens when a raging animal turns on man?
Gripping. Unputdownable. A tale of courage and principle in the heart of one of Africa’s most memorable countries.
Well-armed poachers versus underpaid game rangers with outdated weapons. With Athena’s Vengeance Alex Morris Eyton weaves a fast-paced story about defending wildlife in Zimbabwe’s Matuzviadonha National Park, which borders on man-made Lake Kariba.
Merged into the tale of an elephant matriarch driven mad by grief; of walking safaris in one of Africa’s remote and beautiful game reserves; the troubled path of human lovers; are controversial suggestions to correct the animal/human imbalance that reflect a deep concern for the future of our planet.

Reader review
Dear Alex,
My friend finished reading the book "Athena". Like me, she thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It brings out all the emotions of human beings.
Alex, to me it is not a fiction but a reality. My God, all the places are real. Stafford, Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton are places I know fairly well, having lived in a beautiful village six miles from Stafford for almost 10 years. Shrewsbury, was one of the towns to go shopping if not Tellford etc. London and the workings of the reporters are just real. Oh, Alex WELL DONE.
Best regards to Caroline,

RHIANNON
WHO CARES, WINS
A real page-turner. The story moves from an early Rhodesian childhood; dwells on farm life in that country during the UDI years, through Zimbabwe’s tragedies, of true love, and the esteem of adopted children imbued with the spirit of generosity and can-do so typical of that country. Covid retreats, and in the times to come, Ebola strikes. Can they survive? At breath-taking speed, elderly Angus reveals how his extended family resolves the unexpected, overcomes disasters, describes thier flight across Africa, outlines landlubbers ordeals at sea, and how reaching a far away destination, good finally conquers bad...

A family in Zimbabwe attempt to isolate from a terrifying new Ebola virus. Their dramatic and sometimes tragic journey takes them overland to the Atlantic coast and finally to England. Intriguing and thought-provoking.
A great holiday read. I have loved both this and Alex’s two previous books. Would highly recommend.
